Detroit Tigers Minor League Notes

Tons of good stuff over at the Athletic in the last couple of days. First, a profile on Matt Boyd. The Reds drafted him and offered him a $100,000 signing bonus after his junior year at Oregon State. Boyd stayed in college, a decision that paid dividends for the young left-hander.

Next: Exploring a trade with the Angels

Next, six trades AL Contenders should make before the trade deadline. Somehow the Tigers are in second place in the AL Central. While the rest of the division is buying, the Tigers will be selling and through it all, they could surprise us and finish second or third in the AL Central.

People have been pretty critical of the Tigers so far this season. There’s an entire blog dedicated to being critical about Detroit Sports. That’s the most advertising I’ll give it. But, Kurt Mensching writes that the Tigers are turning the tables on their critics.
