The Detroit Tigers looked like they were going to end their six-game losing streak. The Tigers jumped to an early 4-0 lead with help from Nicholas Castallenos and Niko Goodrum. The Tigers then were up 6-0 against the Athletics but blew the lead and find themselves on a seven-game losing streaking.
Among some of the factors contributing to the meltdown included an error on a throw from John Hicks to Niko Goodrum. There were some positive notes from yesterday at Comerica Park. Both Jose Iglesias and Leonys Martin became U.S. citizens in a ceremony at the ballpark.
With the first half of the season coming to an end, Sports Illustrated has released their grade on the Tigers performance. Just a C-minus for the Olde English D. The Detroit Tigers have signed almost all of their draft picks. With that, the team has been trying figure out where to send their new prospects.
Parker Meadows is the latest draft pick to sign. Marquee names Kody Clemens and Casey Mize signed their respective deals earlier this week. First overall draft pick Casey Mize likely won’t pitch in the organization until next season.
The trade deadline is almost here and our own Andy Patton explores where the Tigers could send Matt Boyd in a trade. GM Al Avila has said any veteran player could be traded away and Shane Greene, Francisco Liriano, and Jose Iglesias would all be considered trade rentals.

Reportedly, the Seattle Mariners have expressed interest in trading for Boyd. Prospect Christin Stewart left the game yesterday with a calf issue. According to George Sipple, of the Detroit Free Press, Stewart is day-to-day for the time being. The Tigers face off against the A’s again today, with Matt Fiers on the mound. Fiers has a 1.96 ERA at home this season.
