The Detroit Tigers have two players being inducted into the Baseball Hall of Fame tomorrow. Both Alan Trammell and Jack Morris are joining the ranks in Cooperstown. Trammell and Morris were endeared by many Tigers fans, but not all of them according to the Detroit Free Press.
Over at the Athletic (subscription required), Cliff Corcoran writes that Lou Whitaker belongs next to Trammell in the Hall of Fame. Trammell and Whitaker are one of the greatest duos in baseball history and its a sentiment shared by many Tigers fans.
Also at the Athletic (subscription required), Emily Waldon talks to some scouts about who are the top three prospects in the Tigers system. Arguably, the top three are all pitchers. In a pitcher heavy system, that shouldn’t come as a surprise.
Also at the Free Press, a family that is full of avid Detriot Tigers fans. Avid to the point that they named their daughter Kaline. Francisco Liriano was scheduled to start today against the Cleveland Indians. Instead, Blaine Hardy is going to take his place.
Yesterday, Mike Fiers took the mound against the Tribe. While the Tigers came away with a loss, he added to his trade value writes Ted Kulfan. With the trade deadline just days away Fiers might find himself playing for a playoff contender rather than in the Motor City.
Detroit Tigers skipper Ron Gardenhire is ready for the trade deadline to start writes George Sipple. Mike Fiers is the most likely player to be traded away before the deadline passes.
