The Detroit Tigers reportedly misdiagnosed a Justin Verlander injury in 2015. Bleacher Report released an interesting piece on the former Tigers ace yesterday. It’s a long but interesting read, it also paints the Tigers trainers in a somewhat unpleasant light. Given JV’s struggles in 2015 it’s not entirely unsurprising.

Justin Verlander credited Kate Upton with saving his career. While plenty of Tigers fans were booing JV off the field, he was struggling with the decline in his career. Verlander suffered from severe depression and navigated out of it with the help of Upton.

The article is a reminder that even professional athletes can struggle in their everyday lives and that millions of dollars doesn’t exclude one from bad spells.

Currently playing for Double-A Affiliate is pitcher John Schreiber. Schreiber is a Michigan native and according to Lynn Henning, of the Detroit News, we could see the young prospect pitching in Comerica park sooner rather than later.

Jordan Zimmerman takes the mound tonight as the Tigers take on the Twins. Zimmerman is hoping to help the Tigers end their current skid. The Tigers are 47-68 while the Twins are 53-59. First pitch is slated for 7:10 PM as Zimmerman takes on Ervin Santana.
