Here at The Corner, we round up Detroit Tigers news and rumors around the Tigers blogosphere so that you don’t spend hours surfing the web searching.

The Detroit Tigers officially retired Jack Morris‘s number before the game against the Twins game. Morris met with the Media after the game, during which he acknowledged that he had made some mistakes during his time in the Motor City.

Morris once received a standing boo at old Tiger Stadium. Morris spot-started for Mark “The Bird” Fidrych, who at the time was a fan favorite. That didn’t go over well with the Tigers faithful who booed Morris as he trotted to the mound.

The Tigers made the most of Jack Morris day, as they took down the Twins 4-2 at Comerica Park. The Tigers took the series from the Twins and Matt Boyd gave up just two hits in the series finale earlier today. The bullpen also provided a solid outing in relieving Boyd. Alex Wilson held the Twins scoreless in the seventh as part of that effort.

Meanwhile, the Detroit Tigers continue to rebuild. Part of that rebuild was adding veteran arm Zach McAllister. Max Bultman, of the Athletic, analyzed what the McAllister signing means for all parties involved (Subscription Required). Also at the Athletic, Kurt Mensching writes that both Jose Iglesias and Franscico Liriano could still be traded, but it’s highly unlikely (Subscription Required).
