Over at the Athletic (subscription required), a lengthy and worthy read on Joe Jimenez. Jimenez has gone from being an unsigned draft pick to playing with the Tigers in Comerica Park. Also at the Athletic (subscription required), the top twenty-five players in Detroit under twenty-five.

Short-A Connecticut Tigers lost their manager Gerald Laird. The move was overlooked by all eye’s being on draft week. Lynn Henning, of the Detroit News, writes that Laird left his managerial duties to spend more time at home and with his family. Slightly older news that you might have already read. Jason Beck, of MLB.com, writes that Beau Burrows is working on improving his off-speed pitches with Double-A Erie.
