Here at The Corner, we round up Detroit Tigers news and rumors around the Tigers blogosphere so that you don’t spend hours surfing the web searching.

Detroit Tigers beat writer Chris McCoskey writes that Jordan Zimmerman’s alpha male approaching is working against the Tigers starting pitcher. Zimmerman has been struggling this season and his competitive nature has caused the Righty to overcorrect in some ways.

With the August 31st trade deadline approaching, our own Andy Patton has been looking at potential trades. Today, he broke down a Jordan Zimmerman to the Brewers trade. While it’s highly unlikely that trade will happen-it would benefit both teams greatly.

The Detroit Tigers had the day off yesterday, but they’re back to work today.  They’re taking on the Royals at Kauffman Stadium, with a scheduled game start of 8:10 PM. You can watch the game on FSD or listen on any of the Tigers radio affiliates. Matt Boyd is slated to start for the Olde English D.

With the roster expanding from 25 to 40 men on Saturday, there’s going to be some unfamiliar faces in the Tigers clubhouse. Evan Woodbery, of MLive.com, looks at which Tigers prospects could get a call-up when the roster expands later this week.

Over at the Athletic, there’s a couple articles worth reading. First, Jordan Horribon looks at the beginning of the Tigers rebuild (subscription required). From 2006-2016 the Tigers were considered to be a perennial powerhouse in baseball.

The beginning of each season generally saw discussion of what moves the Tigers needed to make in order to end up the World Series that fall. After last year’s all-star break, the Tigers threw in the towel and admitted defeat. Since that time, they’ve been rebuilding. Horribon takes a glance at how things led to the rebuild-through the eyes of retrospect.
