The Detroit Tigers may not have many players from their big league roster headed to All-Star week in Cleveland, but a few of Detroit’s rising minor league stars have been selected to take part in the festivities.

As the Detroit Tigers remain entrenched in a rebuild, there haven’t been many opportunities for Detroit fans to celebrate this season. However, MLB.com’s Jason Beck reported on Twitter Friday that three of the organization’s minor league stars have been selected to take part in the MLB All-Star Futures Game in Cleveland on Sunday, July 7th.

Pitching prospect Matt Manning has had an exceptional season for Double-A Erie so far in 2019. The 21-year-old righty has a 6-4 record through 15 starts accompanied by a very solid 2.60 ERA and 1.027 WHIP. This is the second year in a row Manning has been selected to take part in this event.

It seems safe to say that Manning’s SeaWolves teammate Casey Mize would be included among the All-Star Futures Game participants as well if he were not currently on the IL.

Joining Manning in Cleveland will be Toledo MudHens catcher Jake Rogers. Rogers was promoted from Erie to Triple-A Toledo in mid-May and has remained solid at the plate. His combined stats between Doule and Triple-A so far in 2019 includes a .258 BA with 43 RBI and 12 home runs.

Rounding out the Detroit Tigers’ farm system products taking part in the All-Star festivities is infielder Isaac Paredes. A skilled and versatile defensive infielder, Paredes also has prowess in the batter’s box. The Mexico native has a .259 BA with 29 RBI for Double-A Erie this year.
