The Detroit Tigers lost to the Chicago White Sox tonight, which gives them their 108th loss on the season, which means it is likely they will reach 110.

The Detroit Tigers looked atrocious again tonight, losing to the Chicago White Sox by a score of 10-1. With this loss, they are now 45-108 on the season, and will likely reach 110 losses, with a chance of reaching 117 if they lose out.

Tonight’s game began with Jordan Zimmermann doing 2019 Jordan Zimmermann things and giving up nine runs on 11 hits and a walk in the first four innings. The former all-star is now 1-12 with a 6.85 ERA on the season. He is under contract with Detroit until 2021, so hopefully, he can get something figured out over the offseason.

The bullpen did a nice job cleaning up Zimmermann’s mess, only giving up one run in the remaining 5.1 innings, but the deficit would prove to be insurmountable for Detroit’s offense. Nick Ramirez looked especially good out of the pen, going for an inning and a third without allowing a walk or a hit. He has been one of Detroit’s most reliable relief pitchers all year, with 4.19 ERA.

Detroit’s hitting and fielding didn’t do the pitching staff any favors. Detroit only manufactured one run off of seven hits and two walks. Their fielders allowed three errors as well. All in all, this performance makes a fairly convincing argument for those who believe Detroit is tanking for the first overall pick.

This series continues tomorrow night at 6:10 p.m. EST. Tyler Alexander will make the start for Detroit, and he is coming off of his first career win. He looked excellent in his last outing against Baltimore, displaying a great command of the strike zone. Alexander will look to build off of his performance against a slightly better team in Chicago and try to make a case for Detroit to keep him in the bigs next year.
