This morning’s Detroit Tigers intrasquad game gave Riley Greene some national love from the best player in the majors.

Detroit Tigers fans have been treated by flashes of leather since summer camp has started from Derek Hill. But Riley Greene today joined in on the action with one of the best catches we have seen in a long time at Comerica Park.

Greene has been playing all over the outfield in summer camp as he continues to build reps to roam around Comerica Park.

The first-round draft pick, fifth overall in 2019 has looked great throughout spring. batting .417 down in Lakeland with two home runs before the shutdown. His summer camp has been impressive, showing his range in every outfield position.

But when you send Twitter into a frenzy, robbing C.J Cron of a home run,  you are bound to get some attention, even from one Mike Trout.

Greene was slated to start the season at West Michigan before the pandemic started. With his progression on the field, if the minor league season was going on, it could be safe to say he would be patrolling the outfield for the Lakeland Flying Tigers, the Tigers’ High-A Allifate.

Greene is just 19 years old and by all projections, he is supposed to arrive in Detroit by 2022.

For an intrasquad game and what has been a trying year for many people across the country, this highlight reel catch was incredible and cheered up Tigers’ fans everywhere. Optimism continues to grow slowly but the future continues to look good for 19-year old Greene with catches like that.
