What are Las Vegas oddsmakers saying about the Detroit Tigers for 2021?
Since online betting became legal in Michigan back in mid-January, the ads for the various online betting apps have come across social media and on TV and hitting consumers at all angles. Whether you are scrolling on a social media channel or watching videos on YouTube, there is a targeted ad that seems to come across the screen every 30 seconds.
On a local scale, the new Bally Sports Detroit network that is launching in a few days is incorporating new pre-game and live betting elements for all Red Wings, Tigers, and Pistons games via their app.
Even if you are not a betting person, the odds are always interesting to take a look at. In the short season of 2020, the Tigers were projected to win 20.5 games and they finished over with 23 wins.
So, let’s take a look at all the betting odds involving the Detroit Tigers in 2021. (data courtsey of Oddschecker)

For over/under on wins, it was a lot closer than I thought it was going to be. As the rebuild continues, there will be one main highlight according to Oddsmakers spokesman Kyle Newman.
"“The Detroit Tigers are set to be one of the worst teams in MLB according to oddsmakers. It’s not going to be a pretty season, and even the young guys aren’t expected to take home any hardware. That said, Casey Mize is being treated like the ace of the Tigers staff even after his disastrous debut in 2020. That should provide some hope for Tigers fans."
So while Las Vegas seems not sold on the Tigers taking home any type of awards, or their win total, I will take the optimistic point of view and go with over the projected wins. 70, for now.
