Former Detroit Tigers pitcher Matthew Boyd offers a stamp of approval on Scott Harris.

The Detroit Tigers starting rotation was anchored by Matthew Boyd during the Al Avila run portion of the team’s rebuild. After moving on from the Detroit Tigers organization, Boyd found a home with the San Francisco Giants.

While being recruited to join the Giants organization, Boyd credited Scott Harris for a good portion of that process. In a recent tweet from Jason Beck of MLB dot com, Boyd added a few comments about how great of a leader he viewed Harris as.

Harris has taken over the team and led them in a new direction. For the Tigers, it’s a new era and a breath of fresh air for the organization. While Boyd is not with the Tigers anymore, as someone who was recruited by Harris, it has to be nice to hear.

For the Tigers, the honeymoon period is still well underway. The change of face, change of regime, and the new tune sounds great to many. I’ll admit I’ve enjoyed drinking the kool-aid and like the direction, the Tigers organization appears to be heading.

It’s nice to hear so many around the baseball world offer their stamp of approval for the new president of baseball operations. Boyd offering his support is just another glimmer of hope for an exciting future.

Detroit Tigers fans hearing mass approval of Scott Harris has to be exciting.

It’s not that Boyd’s approval of Harris makes him a good hire, or Boyd’s approval means the Tigers fans should be jumping for joy. But a good number of people have spoken well of Harris’ new position with the Tigers.

There are many reasons to like Harris and what he brings to the table with the three pillars he plans to work on, but more approval over time has led to some inspiring thoughts. The Tigers organization has its work cut out for it, but Harris has come in with a vision.

The big question for Harris is whether he can pull it off. He’s spoken about these three pillars, his vision, and a new direction, but being able to pull things off is going to be a different story.

Boyd offering his stamp of approval should be viewed as another green light for the organization. It’s another reason to be happy as a Tigers fan. The future is bright, and the Tigers must trust the new man with a plan.

While Boyd’s comments were short, it offers a player’s perspective. Someone who had interacted with him from when he was with the Giants organization. It has to be nice to hear players vouch for his leadership and talk positively about his mindset and way of thinking.

For the Tigers faithful, hearing something like that is wonderful. Time will tell, and this offseason will be significant as Harris starts to convert this organization into “his” own.
