The MLB trade deadline is on Thursday, and it would seem that the Detroit Tigers need to make a move or two to get their season back on track. The Tigers ended their six-game losing streak with a victory over the Toronto Blue Jays on Sunday, but they are losers of eight of their last 10 games, and have fallen out of the top spot in the American League.
Kerry Carpenter returned to the Tigers' lineup on Sunday, but there's a belief that he may not be the only reinforcement added before the end of the week. The Tigers have been linked to plenty of impact names who could revamp their roster for the stretch run and postseason.
MLB All-Stars who could be Detroit Tigers after the 2025 trade deadline
Eugenio Suárez
The Tigers have been linked to Eugenio Suárez for much of the last month, but the Arizona Diamondbacks aren't just going to give away their star third baseman. The belief is that the D-backs are looking for an MLB player, an upper-level prospect, and a lower-level prospect in exchange for Suárez. It's a steep price but one the Tigers may need to pay if they want to make a splash.
Brandon Lowe
Brandon Lowe isn't a traditional fit for the Tigers, considering he isn't a third baseman by trade, but the All-Star infielder would boost the production of Detroit's lineup while having the versatility to play first base, second base, and in the outfield (but not as aggressively). Lowe is currently on the IL with a foot injury, but is expected to be ready shortly after the deadline. Recent reports have also suggested that the Rays would be willing to move Lowe ahead of the deadline.
Ryan Helsley
Ryan Helsley has been an All-Star in two of the last four seasons, and by most accounts, it seems that the St. Louis Cardinals would be willing to move their closer as they navigate a path closer to selling at the deadline. The easiest path to the Tigers improving their roster for a World Series run would be by bolstering their bullpen. Helsley would be a tremendous addition ahead of the trade deadline.
Drew Rasmussen
The Jack Flaherty reunion in the starting rotation isn't going the way the Tigers hoped it would. Through his first 20 starts this season, Flaherty has a 4.77 ERA. If the Tigers are looking for some rotation help, Drew Rasmussen of the Tampa Bay Rays would be an ideal target — he's sporting a 2.93 ERA through 95 1/3 innings pitched this season.
