While most of Major League Baseball was centered on the fireworks that were taking place between the San Diego Padres and Los Angeles Dodgers on Thursday, the second game of Thursday's doubleheader between the Pittsburgh Pirates and Detroit Tigers was a worthwhile undercard bout.
The antics began in the Pirates' bullpen during the Tigers' loss to the Pirates in the nightcap, as video of Pittsburgh relief pitcher Dennis Santana swinging at a Detroit fan quickly made the rounds on social media.

As seen in the video, a security guard quickly pushed the fan back from the wall. A report from The Athletic's Cody Stavenhagen later confirmed that the fan was ejected from the game by the Tigers. Santana remained available for the Pirates, and after the game, he didn't expand much on what led to the altercation.
“He crossed the line, and I’d like to leave it at that. I’ve never had anything like this happen in my eight years in baseball,” Santana told reporters.
The fireworks between the Tigers fans and the Pirates were not done. After a rain delay in the ninth innings, the two teams entered extra innings tied at four. That would be where the wheels fell off for the Tigers as they gave up four runs in the top of the 10th inning. A single by Ke'Bryan Hayes that scored Tommy Pham is what started the scoring for the Pirates in extras, but the play was not without controversy.
Despite the throw beating Pham to home plate, and it appearing that Tigers' catcher Jake Rogers got the tag down before the veteran outfielder swiped home plate with his hand, the call on the field was that the runner was safe. Replays seemingly confirmed that Pham was out; however, after a challenge by Tigers manager AJ Hinch, the play wasn't overturned.

Needless to say, Hinch was rightfully heated and in expressing the fact that the umpires got the call wrong, the veteran manager was ejected from the game. Upon Hinch's departure from the game, Tigers fans took it upon themselves to pick up where his argument left off. After Pham scored and Hinch was ejected, Tigers fans sitting behind home plate were ejected from the game due to an incident that included the outfielder.
