The Tigers wrapped up their 2026 MLB Draft on Sunday. Although first-round pick Cameron Flukey is going to get most of the attention as Detroit's first first-round college pitcher since Casey Mize in 2018, they also lucked into some solid selections further down in their draft, namely first baseman Will Adams, their 11th-rounder who was ranked at No. 102 by MLB Pipeline but selected at No. 336 overall.
There's a chance that some of these players further down the list, especially the high schoolers, will not sign contracts and try again over the next few years, but the Tigers are likely to retain the majority of these players and add some much-needed depth to the areas of their system that were severely lacking before the weekend.

The Tigers took eight consecutive pitchers from Rounds 13-20. Although none were ranked by MLB Pipeline, even just the possibility that one or two of them work out to even decent effect would help Detroit's minor league pitching depth.
They have a fair number of pitchers in their top 30 this season — 11, to be exact — but none in the top five and only three as high as Double-A. If the majority of these college pitchers end up signing, the upper levels could get an infusion of new arms within the next few seasons. Flukey projects to slot right into the Tigers' pipeline as their highest-ranked pitcher.
All told, it was a productive and surprising draft for the Tigers, who reminded fans that they can keep surprising us even when we're convinced they're stuck in their ways.
