After a long offseason that followed a thrilling run to October, Detroit Tigers baseball finally returns this week.

The Tigers will open the 2025 season Thursday on the road against the Los Angeles Dodgers in what's sure to be an electric pitching matchup at Dodger Stadium. Reigning American League Cy Young Award and Pitching Triple Crown winner Tarik Skubal will take the mound for the Tigers, while two-time Cy Young winner Blake Snell will make his first official start for the Dodgers.

Most of the Tigers' games this season will be televised on FanDuel Sports Network Detroit. However, they will open the 2025 season on the national stage against the reigning World Series champs Thursday in primetime. Talk about heightened expectations.

Unlike normal west coast games, this one will start at a very reasonable 7:10 p.m. ET for fans in the Detroit area. (But don't get used to it; the next two games in the series on Friday and Saturday start at 10:10 p.m. ET and 9:10 p.m. ET, respectively.)

The Tigers' Opening Day contest against the defending world champions will be broadcast nationally on ESPN. It will be the second game of the network's Opening Day doubleheader, followed by New York Yankees vs. Milwaukee Brewers at 3 p.m. ET.

Tigers fans looking for more local flavor in their Opening Day broadcast can still listen to Thursday's game on the radio at 97.1 The Ticket with Dan Dickerson and Bobby Scales on the call. While beloved play-by-play broadcaster Jason Benetti and the rest of the FanDuel Sports Network Detroit crew will have the night off due to the national TV broadcast on Thursday, the regional sports network will be back to televise the final two games of the series Friday and Saturday.
