This player seems to be the consensus pick for the Detroit Tigers at No. 3 overall in the 2023 MLB Draft

The 2023 MLB Draft is now one week away. Teams are finalizing their draft boards ahead of the big night in Seattle on July 9. The Detroit Tigers have the third overall pick, so they are set to get a premium talent.

Last month, we did a roundup of some mock drafts to see who the experts thought the Detroit Tigers would pick at No. 3. There was some consenus at the time, but it wasn't 100%. Now, with a week to go, there's one player that is being consistently mocked to the Detroit Tigers no matter what mock draft you look at.

Florida OF Wyatt Langford seems to be the consensus pick for the Detroit Tigers at No. 3 overall as we get closer to the draft. If that does end up being the case, the Tigers will have struck gold.

The last two years, Langford has slashed .373/.480/.762 with 42 homers for the Gators. He's walked more than he's struck out. He hit a 456-foot bomb in the College World Series this year, which was the longest home run in CWS history.

Some people believe he's a better prospect that LSU OF Dylan Crews, who has been the consensus No. 1 pick for virtually the entire cycle. He's that good of a hitter.

Four mock drafts have the Tigers nabbing him at No. 3. MLB Pipeline's latest mock mock draft has him going behind Crews (1:1 to PIT) and LSU RHP Paul Skenes (1:2 to WSN), as does CBS Sports' latest mock and FOX Sports' most recent mock.

The only one that shakes things up a bit is the most recent mock from Keith Law of The Athletic ($$$), who has Skenes going No. 1 overall to the Pirates and Crews going No. 2 overall to the Nationals. I could see a world where that happens, but I just don't think it's very likely, even for as good as Skenes is. Crews is just too good to pass up.

But like the other three, Law has Langford going to the Tigers. It seems like a pretty good possibility right now. Like Law mentions, Langford would be the consenus top pick in any other draft. That's how good the top of this draft is.

The Detroit Tigers are set to get a great player next Sunday. A lot can change in a week, but the general consensus is that Florida's Wyatt Langford will be the pick.
