Detroit Tigers call-up Brendan White.

The Detroit Tigers have brought in a new arm for the bullpen. It was announced that the team had gone out and called up Brendan White. It was noted that the right-handed pitcher had a locker in the big league clubhouse today.

The corresponding move with this was optioning right-handed pitcher Garrett Hill. The team sent him down to Triple-A Toledo. He threw on Monday in against Atlanta, so a refresher to bring in a healthy arm should not be the most outlandish move.

Plus, it offers a new arm for Hinch to call upon, being someone that the Tigers can trot out there as needed to let him make his MLB debut. He has been with Triple-A Toledo for the 2023 season, and it was expected that he would earn a call-up at some point.

White has pitched in 25 games for the Mud Hens, totaling 32.0 innings pitched. The right-handed pitcher has pitched to a 4.78 ERA, a 1.78 WHIP. He had 43 strikeouts with ten walks over his time in Toledo.

The 5-foot-11, 185-pound right-hander has some twinge and jerky-ness to the delivery. It's kind of like Mason Englert with the weirdness. It's not that the delivery is super weird; it's just got a ton of pace, and it's not your standard issue mechanics.

It's a long, loose, whippy arm stroke with good arm speed working down the mound. The fastball has bore, being an extremely lively pitch when he locates to the arm-side, it's even more impressive.

The slider has good break to it, being sweepy with that 10/4 shape, moving laterally but showing the tilt to miss bats to it. It's a pitch that should tunnel well off the fastball with a different movement profile that helps him miss bats.

The Tigers right-hander does not have the most exciting stats at the Triple-A level, but the team is still looking to give him a chance at the big league level. It's a move that allows White to make his debut and the Tigers a chance to get a new face and fresh arm around the pitching staff.

Switching something up is needed. The Tigers took home the win on Monday, but things have not been the best as of late, and the team is looking to flip the switch and turn things around soon.
