Riley Greene is set to be activated off the IL on Saturday

He's coming back.

Riley Greene is set to be activated off the IL on Saturday against the Blue Jays, manager A.J. Hinch revealed before Friday's game. The Detroit Tigers are finally getting their best player back.

Greene was orginally supposed to miss a much longer amount of time with a stress fracture in his leg, but a second opinion revealed just a stress reaction, which shortened the recovery time. He'll end up missing about five and a half weeks.

Greene went 5-for-5 in a rehab assignment game with Toledo earlier this week, and homered to dead center last night. It sure seems like he's ready.

The next question becomes who loses their roster spot? Many people think it'll be Jake Marisnick, which would make sense given the Tigers have a lot of outfielders at the moment. There's also Jonathan Schoop, but then again, he's made it this far. Why would now be the time he finally gets DFA'd?

Marisnick is a perfectly fine 25th/26th man on this roster. He plays great defense in the outfield, and while his offense is not good by any means, you can live with it if he plays sparingly. Part of the problem with him is he was playing too often and he was overexposed.

Schoop has been cooked since last season. His spot on the roster, especially considered how little he plays, remains a huge mystery. Could this be it for him? We'll have to find out.
