The Detroit Tigers announced a flurry of prospect promotions Sunday night. The most notable is 2022 first-round pick Jace Jung going from High-A West Michigan to Double-A Erie. Jackson Jobe was also bumped back to West Michigan after completing a rehab assignment down in Lakeland.

Here are the rest of the promotions:

We've been wondering when Jung was going to get the jump up to Double-A. He's been very solid all year for the Whitecaps. He slashed .254/.377/.465 with 14 home runs this season. The plate discipline he showed last season has carried over, and the power has started to click.

Defense was a concern when he was drafted, but so far this season he's played a pretty good second base. He has just one error on the year. Errors obviously aren't everything, but that's a promising sign nonetheless.

Jobe has made outstanding progress since suffering a back injury in spring training. He recovered pretty quickly and made six rebab starts in Low-A Lakeland, going 0-1 with a 2.25 ERA with 20 strikeouts and just three walks in 16 innings. He's added a cutter to his pitch mix, and it has done wonders for him.

Replacing Jung for West Michigan is infielder Luke Gold, who's coming up from Lakeland. Gold, a fifth-round pick in 2022, had a nice season for the Flying Tigers, slashing .269/.367/.428 with six homers. He walked at a 10% clip.

Heading to Triple-A is infielder Wenceel Perez, who's had quite the journey. He was a highly-touted international free agent signing in July 2016, but never really caught on until last season, where he broke out in Double-A. A back injury has hampered him this season, and it showed a bit in his numbers.

He slashed .271/.353/.375 with six homers. He's still hit fairly well, but the power he showed last season has completely evaporated. The good news is he had a .525 slugging percentage this month prior to the promotion, so hopefully he can keep that up.

There has been some speculation as to whether or not this means there will be a promotion to the big leagues from Triple-A. We don't know anything for sure yet on that front. That infield is getting a bit crowded down there with Perez, Colt Keith, Andre Lipcius, and Justyn-Henry Malloy, though he's currently on the IL.
