Detroit Tigers outfielder Riley Greene provides glimmer of hope in 2023.

The Detroit Tigers are inching closer and closer to the start of the 2023 season. With the calendar flipping over to 2023 and spring ball inching closer, the fans will be looking for something to be excited about.

The Detroit Tigers cannot be happy with how things have gone to this point in the off-season, but outfielder Riley Greene hopes to change that narrative. For Greene, it's going to be his opportunity to it will cement his role as a future perennial all-star in the big leagues.

Tigers fans got to enjoy a good sample of Greene in 2022 as he broke into the league and got to log his first few at-bats. After all, in 2022, Greene could log 93 games where he slashed .253/.321/.362 with 18 doubles, four triples, and five home runs.

On top of a solid debut in the big leagues at the plate, Greene's defense was worthy of writing home about. He made a bunch of highlight reel catches, tracking balls down in the gap, robbing home runs, or laying out for a diving catch to earn an out.

There was just a lot to like about Greene in his first year. Without much changing in 2023 in terms of the team being disappointing, Greene gives the team's fans something to look forward to. For Greene, there is a bright future ahead, and 2023 is a chance to keep moving in the right direction.

When Greene was selected with the fifth overall pick of the 2019 MLB First-Year Amateur Player Draft, there was a lot to project on and enjoy down the line, but not a ton of concrete ideas as to what Greene would bring to the table.

After a solid prep career and outstanding performance on the Perfect Game circuit, Greene made leaps in his development in the Tigers system. On his road to Detroit, he made necessary leaps that have turned him into a big leaguer with an even more exciting future.

Greene has made leaps in terms of his physicality as well. While Greene's outfield abilities have improved, his athleticism has also come a long way. All of this considered, it makes it more exciting to think about what his 2023 season could have in store.

Even though the off-season has been a mess to this point, Greene offers a lot to look forward to next year. It's something the fans can think about in a positive light when tired of griping about the lack of moves or the likelihood that the team will end up with someone like Tommy La Stella at third to start 2023.
