The Detroit Tigers season may not be the most exciting at this point, but it has some bright spots for the team's rotation, it has some bright spots. While Michael Lorenzen may have moved on after the trade deadline deal with the Phillies, and his no-hitter was not with the Tigers organization, there is something to be happy about.

When it comes to the Detroit Tigers season, it feels like another year where its going to come down to looking at the positives and turning the page to the 2024 season. For the Tigers it's been a big season for one of the Tiger's left-handed pitchers.

Tarik Skubal joined the Tigers rotation after a lengthy time off the field. He missed the latter parts of the 2022 season, putting an end to a solid performance after having to undergo flexor tendon surgery.

After undergoing that, it made for a lengthy return to the field, similar to that of Tommy John, but after about ten months off the field, Skubal was able to finally make his jump back onto the field. He was given the all-clear after some rehab starts and was able to jump right back into the Tigers rotation.

Skubal has made the most of his opportunities and has done an exceptional job settling back into the rotation. In 2023, after returning, Skubal has made eight starts for the Tigers, where he has accumulated 38.1 innings pitched.

Throughout the eight starts, Skubal has pitched to a 3.76 ERA with a 1.07 WHIP, starting to find his groove once again upon his return. He has managed just seven walks with 43 strikeouts to his credit, managing quite the ratio to this point.

It has to feel good for Skubal to be able to settle back into the rotation after such a long absence. He has found his footing and done an excellent job in his return to the rotation. The Tigers just need him to finish strong in the 2023 season.

It's got to be good to see Skubal find some success as he has returned to the mound. Skubal should be one of the Tigers' rotation pieces for the future. After a healthy return to the mound, the ability to jump back in only helps his case to hold down one of those spots moving forward.

The Tigers have to be thrilled with how it's gone and exciting for how it could go. The next thing for Skubal will be snowballing quality outings for a clean finish to the 2024 season.
