Detroit Tigers opt to take a chance on 23-year-old Brady Allen.

When it comes to the Detroit Tigers, there has been some hope that the team will make some moves to improve the team's farm systems. While most of the moves Scott Harris has made have been smaller ones, he has mixed in a couple of bigger trades involving the teams' bullpen.

But as the 2023 season keeps going, the Detroit Tigers will continue to try and make moves for the team's best interest will moving forward. The Tigers opted to make a move on Monday to take a flier on a player and move around things with their minor league squad.

The Tigers agreed to a trade with the Miami Marlins that brings in a new prospect who could blossom with a change of scenery.

The Tigers sent 31-year-old outfielder Jonathan Davis to the Miami Marlins in exchange for 23-year-old outfielder Brady Allen, who will head to High-A West Michigan to kick off his career in the Tigers organization.

After all, he had spent time with the South Carolina Gamecocks during his collegiate days, and was a fifth-round draft choice during the 2021 MLB Draft. He was drafted out of high school in 2018 but opted to go to college, which bounced him up to a fifth-round choice by the Marlins.

Allen has played in 37 games for Single-A Beloit as part of the Marlins system, where he has hit .256/.324/.440 with 12 doubles, a triple, and three home runs over 125 at-bats. He is someone the Tigers are aiming to take a chance on, and moving Davis allowed them to free up a roster spot in Toledo.

The Tigers must be thinking that Allen will be able to use his strength to impress, impact the ball well, and show off a solid right-handed hitting operation. After all, he had an excellent feel for the barrel to drive the ball to all parts of the field.

Allen is only 23 years old, and Davis has hit .258/.336/.516 with nine doubles, four triples, and five home runs. The veteran will head to Miami's organization, and the Tigers, in-turn, get the chance to see what Allen can do as they try to poach some value from the Marlins.

It will be interesting to see how the Tigers handle things with Allen and interesting to see if he is going to be able to tap into some top-level performance for success.
