Jared Goff had a perfect night Monday, completing all 18 of his pass attempts and even catching a touchdown pass to lead the Detroit Lions to a 42-29 win over the Seattle Seahawks. Talk about a way to energize the city before the Detroit Tigers were set to start their playoff run the next day!

As he basked in the glow of an historic performance and an electrifying win, he made sure to acknowledge the Lions' next-door neighbors as they look for a win of their own.

Sporting a Tigers hat at his postgame press conference at Ford Field, Goff answered questions from the media about the game before leaning into the microphone and signing off with two simple words:

"Go Tigers."

The Tigers, of course, were set to open their best-of-three American League Wild Card series Tuesday against the Houston Astros. And they used their momentum to capture a 3-1 victory. It marked their first postseason appearance (and win) in 10 years, the result of a thrilling second-half run that saw them surge through the standings and punch their playoff ticket last Friday with a win over the Chicago White Sox.

Tigers' AJ Hinch acknowledges Jared Goff's gesture ahead of AL Wild Card series

Goff's gesture didn't go unnoticed, either. In his pregame press conference Tuesday morning, Tigers manager A.J. Hinch signed off by saying, "Like Jared Goff says, go Tigers."

This playoff series will be a significant one for Hinch, as it will pit him against his former team in Houston, where he won a World Series in 2017. The Astros will be looking to advance to their eighth consecutive AL Championship Series, but they will have to take down the "Gritty Tigs" first.

If Detroit can defeat the Astros in the Wild Card Series, the Tigers will head to Cleveland to face the Guardians in the AL Division Series beginning Oct. 5 at Progressive Field.

We never could have expected to be here, even as recently as a month ago. And yet, against all odds, October baseball has officially returned to the Motor City.
