Somebody just get the baseball! No, not you Benetti!

With the Detroit Tigers cruising on autopilot in their series opener against the Tampa Bay Rays in St. Petersburg, the Bally Sports Detroit broadcast booth has had the opportunity to have a little bit more fun.

So when Javy Baez fouled a pitch off in the sixth inning that found itself a sturdy home just in front of Tigers radio broadcaster Dan Dickerson, plenty of silliness occured.

Tigers broadcast crew bursts into silliness over a foul ball

Craig Monroe: "They're asking for the baseball but I can't get to it."
Jason Benetti: "I'm going to climb out the window."
Monroe (sticking his arm in front of Benetti): "No. NO!"
Benetti: "I'm kidding! You think I'd actually do that?!"
Monroe: "I don't know what you'd do, partner!"
Benetti: "I know you think I'm crazy, but no I'm not going to do that!"

Benetti called Baez's strikeout, and the silliness continued. "Strike three for Javy and almost for me as well."

Dickerson first feigned that he saw and heard nothing, then got called out by Benetti. "Dan, do something about this!"

About that time Tigers radio analyst Bobby Scales decided that it was really much simpler than everyone else was letting on and leaned out of the window to grab the baseball and throw it to the fans.

"We almost lost one!" Benetti reacted.

It's been a fun broadcast for the Tigers, from an earlier interview with a Rays fan portraying a golden statue, to the the things fans have to the BSD crew while they were on the road.

This team is fun. The Tigers broadcasts are fun. It's a great time to be a fan again.
