Baseball America recently updated its Top 100 Prospects list to include recent draft picks, and Detroit Tigers fans will undoubtedly be pleased with the results. In addition to a top 100 that features six Tigers prospects, Baseball America also identified seven "significant" risers, including starting pitcher Jackson Jobe and infielder Kevin McGonigle.

Jobe is Detroit's top pitching prospect and the No. 5 prospect overall in Baseball America's rankings. The Tigers selected Jobe at No. 3 overall in the 2021 MLB Draft, and he has needed some time to develop due in large part to some injury trouble he has suffered over the past couple of seasons. He has been putting together a strong season in Double-A Erie since recovering from his recent hamstring injury, recording a combined 1.93 ERA between Erie and Single-A West Michigan, where he spent his rehab assignment, and 1.03 WHIP in 13 starts. In 51⅓ innings pitched, he has 61 strikeouts and 27 walks.

McGonigle, a second-round pick in 2023, is ranked No. 30 overall on Baseball America's list and the No. 4 prospect in the Tigers' system. He was recently promoted to High-A West Michigan along with another top Tigers prospect, outfielder Max Clark. After getting off to a slow start at West Michigan, McGonigle is now 4-for-9 in his last three games, including his first home run with the Whitecaps on Saturday against the Fort Wayne TinCaps.

Jobe, McGonigle headline Tigers' deep prospect pool

The Tigers recently added to their crop of high-level prospects both at the trade deadline and in last month's MLB Draft. At the trade deadline specifically, they added three additional prospects to their Top 30.

In exchange for veteran pitcher Jack Flaherty, Detroit landed a new Top 10 prospect and potential future catcher in Thayron Liranzo (BA's No. 7), as well as shortstop Trey Sweeney, who is now the Tigers' No. 20 prospect. Pitcher Joseph Montalvo, acquired by the Tigers in the trade that sent reliever Andrew Chafin to the Texas Rangers, is now No. 25 in Detroit’s system.

Four Tigers draft selections also moved into the Top 30, led by their first-round pick, outfielder Bryce Rainer (No. 5). Pitchers Owen Hall and Ethan Schiefelbein rank No. 16 and No. 17, respectively, while pitcher Michael Massey is now ranked No. 27.
