The Detroit Tigers have an MLB-leading six representatives at the 2025 MLB All-Star Game, including an American-League leading three starters (not including starting pitcher Tarik Skubal). That's tied for the second-most All-Star representatives in franchise history, second only to the seven-player delegation in 1985 – the year after Detroit won the World Series.
This year, Riley Greene, Gleyber Torres and Javier Báez will be in the starting lineup for the American League squad Tuesday at Truist Field in Atlanta, with Skubal starting on the mound. Casey Mize and Zach McKinstry will be joining them in the reserves.
Having so many representatives at the All-Star Game is an impressive achievement in its own right for the Tigers, but especially so considering the organization's recent history at the Midsummer Classic.

Tigers All-Star history should have fans' jaws on the floor with 2025 selections
While the Tigers have a rich history at the All-Star Game, most of that history has come prior to the last decade. The Al Kaline era of the 1950s-60s and the World Series "core four" era of Alan Trammell, Lou Whitaker, Jack Morris and Lance Parrish in the 1970s-80s were followed by some lean years in the 1990s and early 2000s in which the organization often sent just the one required representative to the All-Star Game.
The Tigers saw a resurgence from the late 2000s to the early 2010s, the organization's best modern stretch in which they won four straight AL Central titles (2011-14). Miguel Cabrera, Magglio Ordóñez, Curtis Granderson, Justin Verlander, Max Scherzer, Prince Fielder, Victor Martinez, and José Valverde all made appearances during this stretch that saw the Tigers bring multiple All-Stars yearly.
That was followed by another dormant stretch for the Tigers organization, which coincided with a limited showing at the All-Star Game from 2015 until the present. The rest, as they say, is history.
Now, the Tigers sit atop the Major League standings with the best record – and the most All-Stars – in all of baseball. Hopefully, this will mark the start of the next era of winning baseball in Detroit.
