MLB unceremoniously dropped the entirety of next year's schedule on Tuesday, and it included some exasperating news for Tigers fans. The team will start on the West Coast for the fifth year in a row and open their series in San Diego against the Padres before moving on to Arizona to face the Diamondbacks. Their home opener will take place on April 3 against the Cardinals.
Still, there are plenty of reasons to be excited about next season. The Tigers will hopefully be coming off of a long postseason run (maybe even a World Series win?) with most of the core that fans have come to know and love intact.
A number of relievers are set to become free agents at the end of the season, but the one and only position player expected to depart is Gleyber Torres, who has become a mainstay at second base this season.
However, the Tigers' hype video for their 2026 schedule might contain a hint at Torres' future. In a new version of Detroit rapper Gmac Cash's "Tigers Won Again," which the Tigers already play after every win this season, an entire verse is dedicated to Torres despite his impending free agency.

Tigers' 2026 hype video curiously contains a verse dedicated to impending free agent Gleyber Torres
The Tigers front office seems deeply committed to keeping deals under wraps — many of their biggest contracts over the last few seasons came completely by surprise (Jack Flaherty, Colt Keith) — and there hasn't been a peep about whether or not either the Tigers or Torres are interested in coming back together on a new deal for 2026 and beyond.
However, Torres has made it clear that he's loved being a Tiger this year and the organization loves him right back. Fans would be more than happy to see him stay. Colt Keith's sneakily effective move to third base could make him their long-term answer there, which would free up second base for Torres through the near future.
Torres is doing exactly what he set out to do on a one-year prove-it deal. His .363 OBP is eighth-best in the American League and by far the highest of any qualified Tigers batter. He's batting .262 with 14 homers and 61 RBI, and his defense has improved to an acceptable league-average. Maybe most importantly, he's seemingly become a leader in the Tigers' clubhouse.
So, who knows? Tigers fans would be happy to see Torres stay in Detroit for a few more years. And the team might've just hinted that could be the case.
