The Detroit Tigers' prospect pipeline was hit with some brutal injury news earlier this month, when 2025 first-round pick Bryce Rainer underwent season-ending surgery after dislocating his right shoulder.
A silver lining to the injury, however, is that it has allowed other top Tigers prospects to step into the spotlight in Rainer's absence. Such has been the case with infielder Franyerber Montilla, who has been tearing it up at Single-A Lakeland with hits in each of his last eight games to raise his June batting average to .310.
Five of Montilla's last eight games have been multi-hit performances, and he has racked up 16 total hits during that span. Montilla, the Tigers' No. 11 prospect according to MLB Pipeline, could very well see a promotion to Double-A Erie before the end of the season if his hot streak at the plate continues.

Tigers prospect Ben Malgeri makes SportsCenter Top 10 with unreal outfield catch
Tigers outfield prospect Ben Malgeri got his 15 seconds of fame this week with a highlight-reel play for Double-A Erie that made it into Thursday's edition of SportsCenter Top 10.
Malgeri, an unranked prospect selected by the Tigers in the 18th round of the 2021 MLB Draft, made a running catch in right field during Erie's contest against Double-A Somerset (New York Yankees) on Wednesday.
The 25-year-old Malgeri flipped over the wall down the first base line and knocked over a camera in the process of making the catch, but he held onto the baseball to secure the out in what would end up being an extra-innings loss for Erie.

Tigers pitching prospects team up for combined no-hitter in Florida Complex League
The Tigers organization's first no-hitter of the 2025 season goes to a pair of prospects in the Florida Complex League who accomplished the feat on Saturday.
Kelvis Salcedo tossed five no-hit innings against the Philadelphia Phillies' Florida Complex squad before being relieved by Bryce Alewine, who completed the no-hit bid. The FCL Tigers' bats came alive to provide them with some run support for a 5-0 win.
Salcedo has a 3-0 record with a 2.39 ERA and 26 strikeouts in 26 1/3 innings this year, while Alewine has a 2-0 record with a 1.69 ERA and 11 strikeouts in 10 innings. The pitchers are 19 and 20 years old, respectively, so it may be a while before we see them in the big leagues, but they will be a fun duo to follow as they progress through the Tigers' pipeline.
