UPDATE: The FOX broadcast says the game is expected to begin at 7 :30 p.m. ET.
After successfully getting a split out in Seattle, the Detroit Tigers return home to hopefully close out the ALDS against the Mariners. The matchup for Game 3 looks tough on paper as Jack Flaherty is set to take on one of the Mariners' top starters, Logan Gilbert. This has been a hard fought series thus far and Tuesday night is unlikely to be much different, but the weather gods have added another wrinkle to the playoff proceedings.
All day long, there was a threat of rain causing a delay to the start of Game 3. Rain was widely expected to be in the area and it was only a matter of how much the weather system developed before the game's start time and if the rain would move out beforehand. Unfortunately, the rain did come and it did not leave before the start of the game, so we are now officially in a rain delay.
**UPDATE: 6:09 PM EST**
Well, that wait was longer than expected, but we have a game start time now. Barring changes in the weather forecast, Game 3 of the ALDS between the Tigers and Mariners will start at 7 PM EST.
Today’s first pitch is expected at 7 p.m.

Tigers vs. Mariners Rain Delay, Game 3 ALDS, October 7: When will this game start?
Given the importance of the game itself and the implications for both teams if there is a postponement, you can bet that everyone is going to try and get this game in somehow. It is one thing to just postpone a regular season game and kick it down the road. Reorganizing playoff schedules especially with all of the TV money involved is almost impossible, so don't make any new plans this evening.
As to when the game will actually start, that is a little tough given how this storm is moving through the area and it's shape keeps changing. The best early forecasts had the rain mostly moving out 30-45 minutes after the original start time. Hopefully that forecast holds true and there isn't a long wait.
We will keep this post updated as more information becomes available including when an actual game start time is announced and if there are any changes in the forecast. Sit tight, Tigers fans. Barring something wild happening, there is going to be playoff baseball tonight.
