Almost halfway into the 2025 season, the Detroit Tigers are still the owners of the best record in baseball and the team continues to pile up the wins. Unfortunately, Thursday's game was a loss to the Pirates which came with some controversy involving a Tigers fan that marred things for everyone. However, the Tigers face a tough test starting on Friday as they visit the Rays in Florida. Adding to the difficulty is the notoriously fickle Florida weather which is baring it's teeth this evening.

The pitching matchup is set to be a fun one as the Tigers send Jack Flaherty to the mound. Flaherty is coming off a particularly rough start last time out against the Reds, but his previous three starts before that were quite good as he combined to give up just one earned run. Flaherty takes on Shane Baz who had a rough start to the month of May, but has settled down over his last five starts or so.

Sadly, we have to wait to see the two teams square off as this game is officially in a rain delay.

**UPDATE: 6:07 PM CST**

Florida weather is so funny. One minute it is a downpour, the next is bright and sunny. Does not look like this delay will last long at all. Assuming the forecast holds up and the rain moves out as expected, first pitch will be at 6:55 PM CST.

Tigers vs. Rays Rain Delay, 6/20/25: When will the game start?

Predicting the weather in Florida is a foolish enterprise and it seems like there is a one in three chance that a storm could pop up at any given moment down there. The weather this weekend in particular isn't likely to be great which makes the Rays needing to play in a minor league stadium without a dome most unfortunate.

That said, the odds of rain do seem to diminish as the evening goes on. With a questionable forecast the rest of the weekend and this being an interleague matchup that would be difficult to make up later, you can fully expect that everyone involved is going to try and get this game in tonight even if there is a lengthy amount of rain with the biggest variable being whether or not the field itself holds up.

As more information becomes available, we will add it to this post including estimated start times and if there are any changes to the weather or conditions at the game. Sit tight, Tigers fans, as we may be waiting a bit.
