Detroit Tigers Minor League Recap 4/24/13: Nick Castellanos Homers For 2nd Straight Day

Top prospect Nick Castellanos went deep for the second straight day; he reached base all five times he stepped to the plate going 3-3 with a double, home run, and two walks. Argenis Diaz went 2-5 with a double, Brad Davis went 2-4 with a home run, and Ben Guez went 1-3 with two walks.

Shawn Hill struck out five and walked one in five innings, but allowed seven runs (five earned) on 11 hits. Ramon Garcia gave up a run in two innings with a strikeout and two walks. Evan Reed struck out one and walked none in a scoreless inning of work.

AA: Bowie at Erie – PPD

A: West Michigan 10, Lake County 1

Danry Vasquez had a hot bat for the Whitecaps, going 4-5 with a triple. Vasquez’s batting average is now .302. Jeff Holm was 2-4 with a triple, Mario Martinez was 2-4 with a double, Devon Travis was 1-3, and Austin Schotts was 1-4.

Edgar De La Rosa pitched four innings as the starter for West Michigan. He struck out four, walked four, gave up four hits, and allowed one run. Josh Turley and Julio Felix each pitched two scoreless innings with three strikeouts, and Jose Valdez pitched one scoreless inning with a walk.
