When We Last Met

The previous scheduled matchup between the Tigers and Phillies was cancelled due to rain, so we have to go all the way back to February 28, the first week of spring games, to find a game played between the two teams. On that afternoon, the Phillies pounced on a split-squad Tigers team to win 10-6.

Detroit actually opened up a 3-0 lead in the first inning thanks two a three-run double off the bat of Nick Castellanos, but the Phillies scored six runs off of Jhan Marinez and then two more off of Jose Valdez in an eight-run third inning. Perhaps only one Tigers pitcher from that game will make the team — they got one scoreless inning from Evan Reed.

Lineup

Justin Verlander will be the starting pitcher for the Tigers, making his final spring tuneup appearance before starting on Opening Day next Monday.
