Opening day is only five days away, so the Tigers are now in a spot where their starters are making their final turn through the rotation in preparation for the season. The name of the game from here on out is getting them ready, while keeping everyone healthy.

When We Last Met
The previous scheduled matchup between the Tigers and Phillies was cancelled due to rain, so we have to go all the way back to February 28, the first week of spring games, to find a game played between the two teams. On that afternoon, the Phillies pounced on a split-squad Tigers team to win 10-6.
Detroit actually opened up a 3-0 lead in the first inning thanks two a three-run double off the bat of Nick Castellanos, but the Phillies scored six runs off of Jhan Marinez and then two more off of Jose Valdez in an eight-run third inning. Perhaps only one Tigers pitcher from that game will make the team — they got one scoreless inning from Evan Reed.
Tigers lineup today: Davis, LF; Kinsler, 2B; Cabrera, 1B; Martinez, DH; Hunter, RF; Avila, C; Castellanos, 3B; Collins, CF; Romine, SS.
