More from Motor City Bengals

After winning another series in Pittsburgh, the Tigers head back home to take on their division rival, the Chicago White Sox.

Chicago is off to a bit of a tough start. They were swept in Kansas City to start the year and lost their first four games of the regular season, but they have won three of their last four, splitting a pair of games in Cleveland on Tuesday and Wednesday.

When We Last Met

The White Sox actually got the better of the Tigers last season, winning 11 of the 19 meetings between the two clubs in 2014.

Pitching Matchup

It’s technically not two aces, but fans should be excited for the pitching matchup on Friday as Tigers lefty David Price will take on White Sox starter Jeff Samardzija.

Due to his own error in his last start versus the Indians, Price still hasn’t yielded an earned run this season. He has pitched 14 1/3 innings, struck out 11 hitters and walked three. Price shut out the Twins on Opening Day, nearly throwing a complete game.

Meanwhile, Samardzija is off to a less than desirable start to say the least. He is 0-1 with a 6.23 ERA in 13 innings over his first two starts. Samardzija was particularly bad on Opening Day when he allowed five runs in six frames to the Royals.

Tigers Lineup

Unfortunately, Victor Martinez is not back in the lineup despite returning to an American League ballpark. Several reports have indicated Martinez is dealing with a sore back, but our friend James Schmehl at MLive.com tweeted it is not a back issue and could be his knee. Either way, Martinez is out of the lineup and both center fielders are playing.
