Detroit Tigers and Cincinnati Reds game postponed due to rain
By Dave Holcomb
The Detroit Tigers and Cincinnati Reds will not conclude their four-game series on Thursday due to rain at Great American Ballpark in Cincinnati.
The game was called at 7:47 pm, 37 minutes after the original first pitch was scheduled according to MLive.com. An incoming thunderstorm delayed the start, but there is heavy rain also coming in Cincinnati.

There is no scheduled date to make-up the game, but Chris Iott of MLive.com has already looked ahead on the two team’s schedules and Aug. 3, 17, and 24 as well as Sept. 17 are mutual off-days between the two clubs. It appears very likely one of these four days will be the make-up date in Cincinnati.
Just another reason to hate interleague play. Rather than the Tigers keeping all their off-days in August and September, which is the home stretch of the season, they will have to fly into Cincinnati for just one game.
Detroit will play the New York Yankees this weekend. Friday’s projected starters were originally Alfredo Simon and Adam Warren, but manager Brad Ausmus will likely start Justin Verlander, who was scheduled for Thursday, on Friday.
