Detroit Tigers players will go for another win in Oakland on Saturday, as the team faces off against the Athletics. Matt Boyd will start for the Tigers.

Detroit Tigers players seem to have figured it out as of late. After a rough losing stretch that saw the team lose 11 of 12 games, the Tigers have now won nine of the team’s past 11 contests.

The Tigers won again on Friday, beating Sean Manaea and the rest of the A’s by a score of 4-1. Michael Fulmer was excellent in the victory, and continues to make an impact. The rookie starter took his record to (coincidentally) 4-1 with the win.

Now, Detroit will turn to another pitcher who started the year with the Toledo Mud Hens to further the team’s run of good form.

The team’s official Twitter account announced on Friday that Boyd would be “recalled from Triple A Toledo prior to tomorrow’s game and will start tomorrow.”

With Jordan Zimmermann sidelined, the former Blue Jays pitcher will get a chance to prove his worth after impressing so far with Toledo and in a one-game appearance with the Tigers earlier this season. In eight starts for the Mud Hens, the Washington native has posted a 2.06 ERA in 48 innings (eight starts) for Lloyd McClendon’s team. In one relief appearance with Detroit this season, Boyd threw 4.2 scoreless innings.
