Detroit Tigers players will look to continue the team’s winning ways on Friday. Miguel Cabrera and company return home to take on the Los Angeles Angels of Anaheim. Justin Verlander will start for Detroit.

Detroit Tigers fans have seen some solid baseball as of late. The Tigers are finally starting to put some wins together, and the team’s offense has been a major reason why. During the Tigers current four-game winning streak, Brad Ausmus’ squad has scored 35 runs.

A key factor in this offense outburst has been Justin Upton. The outfielder is hitting a robust .400 with a 1.405 OPS over his last five games.

In those five games, he’s accumulated nine RBI, eight hits, five runs scored, three home runs, two doubles and two walks.

Detroit has an excellent chance to extend their offensive run of form against the Angels. Anaheim will start former Twin Ricky Nolasco opposite Verlander on Friday.

The 33-year-old has struggled since joining the Halos in a trade deadline deal, with a 5.70 ERA in four starts.

On the season, Nolasco owns a 5.22 ERA on the season. His FIP and SIERA both sit at 4.39. Those struggles could continue against a number of Detroit hitters who’ve found great success against the right-hander.

Victor Martinez (.412), Upton (.409), Ian Kinsler (.346) and J.D. Martinez (.333) all own gaudy numbers in at least 20 plate appearances versus the ex-Minnesota starter. What’s more, center fielder Cameron Maybin has five hits in nine career at-bats against Nolasco.

Lineup

Per a tweet from the Detroit Tigers official Twitter account, here is the lineup that will face Nolasco.

Friday’s contest will also mark the first time Erick Aybar has faced off with the Angels after being traded to the Braves last offseason as part of the Andrelton Simmons mega-deal.

In 10 seasons with the American League West franchise, the shortstop posted a .276 batting average, 572 runs scored, 417 RBI, 222 doubles, 144 stolen bases, 48 home runs and 43 triples in 1220 career games. Aybar posted a 23.8 WAR with the Halos and won a Gold Glove in 2011. He also earned All-Star honors in 2014.
