FanSided Bloggers Announce All-AL Central Position Players
The AL Central bloggers on the FanSided Network have spent the last week discussing who should represent our division on the All-AL Central team for our collaborative project that was announced almost two weeks ago.
Some lobbying proved successful in a couple cases while it took a fan vote to determine a winner at third base. It wasn’t a requirement that each team be represented but it turned out that was the case. The Twins and White Sox lead the way with three players each while the Tigers, Indians and Royals each placed on man on the fictitious squad.
Without further ado, I proudly present our All-AL Central position player roster:
Catcher – Joe Mauer, MIN
First Base – Miguel Cabrera, DET
Second Base – Gordon Beckham, CWS
Shortstop – Alexei Ramirez, CWS
Third Base – Danny Valencia, MIN
Outfield – Shin-Soo Choo, CLE
Outfield – Alex Rios, CWS
Outfield – Delmon Young, MIN
DH – Billy Butler, KC
Victor Martinez and Magglio Ordonez were Tigers that entered into the discussion but were ultimately beat out for All-AL Central roster spots.
Our process will continue by selecting five starting pitchers, a setup man and a closer to complete the squad. When the squad is complete it will go head-to-head with the other divisions for MLB supremacy. In the meantime, feel free to react to which position players made and didn’t make the cut.
