Miguel Cabrera‘s hamstring is feeling well enough for him to get the start at first base tonight. Victor Martinez returns to his role as the designated hitter.
When We Last Met
Justin Verlander took the loss against John Danks last night. Tonight the Tigers look to salvage a game and avoid being swept after yet another disappointing blow out loss. Verlander started sharp, but wasn’t able to maintain his control and manager Brad Ausmus made perhaps his most befuddling choices so far as a manager. It wasn’t much fun for a Tigers’ fan any way you slice it.

Max Scherzer(7-2, 3.38 ERA) has been dominant against the White Sox not only this season(2-0, 12IP, 11H, 2R), but his for his career, with a 2.57 ERA against the Sox. Coming off a streak of disappointing performances, Scherzer’s last start against Boston was a step in the right direction, but even though he notched the win, he gave up 11 hits and four runs in 6.2 innings. He walked only one batter and struck out 9, which showed an improvement in his control over his previous recent starts.
