Torii Hunter returns to the lineup as the Tigers take on the Rangers, looking to win their sixth straight game. Much to the relief of fans, Hunter will not be taking J.D. Martinez‘s place in the lineup. It will be Austin Jackson getting the night off, J.D. will play left, which slides Rajai Davis to center.
When We Last Met
The Tigers and Rangers faced off last night with Drew Smyly on the mound and continued the hot streak, pummeling the Rangers 8-2. Smyly recorded another quality start and Ian Kinsler hit a solo home run in his first at bat against his former team in his former home park. J.D. Martinez continued his hot streak, breaking a late inning tie with a two-run homer.

Anibal Sanchez(4-2, 2.33 ERA) comes off his sixth consecutive quality start, and outing against the Kansas City Royals in which Anibal went seven innings, gave up one run on five hits and a walk. Anibal has been the Tigers’ most consistent reliable pitcher so far this season, especially of late.
In his career against the Rangers, Sanchez is 1-3 with a 6.98 ERA, but Sanchez was the only Tigers’ pitcher that wasn’t shelled by the Rangers’ lineup when they were in Detroit in May.
