Game Preview
The Detroit Tigers return their home away from home on Sunday as they welcome in the new-look Houston Astros to Joker Marchant Stadium.
When We Last Met
The Tigers dominated the Astros in their first year as a member of the American League in 2013, winning five of the six games played. It was much closer in 2014 as the Tigers edged the Astros in the season series 4-3. They also improved by nearly 20 wins overall last year, going from 51 to 70 wins, which caused the front office to finally make some moves to try to bring the team into relevance.
New Astros include Colby Rasmus, Ryan Vogelsong, Evan Gattis, Luis Valbuena and Jed Lowrie.
Detroit Tigers Lineup
Detroit Tigers’ fans will get their first look at newcomer Shane Greene. The youngest rotation member, Greene came over in a three-way trade with the Arizona Diamondbacks and New York Yankees and had a stellar rookie season in the Bronx. He’ll throw against the Astros on Sunday. Fans may remember him when he dominated the Tigers in two starts against them while a member of the Yankees last season.
After a shin-related scare on Friday, Jose Iglesias returns to the lineup, as schedule, today.
UPDATE: Iglesias took a liner to the shin in warmups and has been scratched. Oy vey.
