Game Preview
The Detroit Tigers will try to bounce back against the AL East contending Blue Jays after giving up 14 runs to the Houston Astros on Sunday.
When We Last Met
In the last game between these two clubs, they played a marathon of a game that lasted 19 innings. The Blue Jays tied the game in the bottom of the ninth on a Joba Chamberlain blown save, and then Jose Bautista lifted Toronto to victory on a walk off single in the 19th. Toronto won the season series, 5-1, last season, which included a Blue Jays sweep at Comerica Park.
Toronto improved last season, posting a winning record, 83-79, for the first time since 2010, but after starting 2014, 38-24, the Blue Jays went 45-55 after June 1.
Blue Jays Key Additions: Russell Martin, Josh Donaldson, Michael Saunders.
Detroit Tigers Lineup
The Tigers will send Anibal Sanchez to the mound for the second time this spring. He will face Blue Jays starter Marcus Stroman. Tigers shortstop Jose Iglesias underwent X-rays after taking a line drive to his shin during warmups on Sunday. The X-rays were negative and he is listed as day-to-day, but he will not play on Monday.
