Sunday’s game between the Tigers and White Sox is the rubber match of the series as the Tigers won Friday, and the White Sox exacted revenge Saturday.
When We Last Met
Detroit took one on the chin Saturday as the Chicago White Sox blew out the Tigers, 12-3. It was the first game of the 2015 regular season where Detroit really did not play well.
Anibal Sanchez started for the Tigers, and he allowed two more home runs, yielding nine runs on nine hits in 3 1/3 innings. He has already tossed up more home runs in his first three starts than he did all of last year.
Right fielder J.D. Martinez was one of the lone bright spots for Detroit on Saturday as he hit his fifth home run of the season.
Pitching Matchup
There might not be a hotter pitcher in the league than Tigers right-hander Shane Greene, and Detroit has to love he is getting the ball with the chance to clinch the series on Sunday.
He has yet to allow an earned run in 16 innings over his first two starts of the year. Greene also has more strikeouts, eight, than hits allowed, seven.
Chicago will send another lefty to the mound on Sunday in Jose Quintana. He is 1-0 with a 4.09 ERA, 10 strikeouts and three walks in two starts this season.
Tigers Lineup
The Detroit lineup features a lot of right-handed hitters again with a lefty on the mound for the second straight day. James McCann will get his second consecutive start behind the plate. Nick Castellanos is back at third base.
