When We Last Met
Detroit Tigers’ David Price was sharp on Saturday, striking out a season-high 12 batters and allowing just one run, but Baltimore Orioles’ ace Chris Tillman was even more sharp. His domination of Tigers’ bats continued, allowing a first inning hit and nothing more.
Pitching Matchup
Justin Verlwander (0-2, 5.34) is still seeking his first victory of the season, but missing out on the last one was no fault of his own. Verlander was brilliant in his last start 9 days ago against Minnesota, allowing just one run in 8.1 innings of work and staking his team to a 6-1 lead, but the Tigers’ bullpen collapsed and lost the game. This followed a string of games in which Verlander was rocked, but he hopefully turned a corner in his last contest.
Miguel Gonzalez (7-6, 4.24) was rocked in his last start prior the All-Star break, allowing six runs in five innings and took the loss against Washington.
