Detroit Tigers sending seven players to Arizona Fall League
The Detroit Tigers season is a near certainty to be ending when the final out is recorded at U.S. Cellular Field on October 4, but for several prospects within the organization, their season will play on.

That is because the organization tabbed seven players to play in the Arizona Fall League, usually reserved for young players on the cusp of the majors or to allow teams to try them at different positions as a sort of jump start toward Spring Training.
Three right handed pitchers will join a first baseman, shortstop and outfielder in Arizona and play for the Scottsdale Scorpions. This team will be made up of prospects from the Detroit Tigers, San Francisco Giants, Minnesota Twins, Boston Red Sox and Cleveland Indians.
Pitchers:
- Jeff Ferrell, 24, 2.65 ERA in Erie and Toledo (two innings pitched in Detroit)
- Austin Kubitza, 23, 5.84 ERA in Erie
- Adam Ravenelle, 22, 4.31 ERA in West Michigan
- Montreal Robertson, 25, 3.55 ERA in Lakeland and Erie
Position Players:
- Dominic Ficociello-1B, .297, 8 HRs, 57 RBIs with Lakeland and Erie
- Michael Gerber-OF, .296, 12 HRs, 71 RBIs with West Michigan
- JaCoby Jones-SS, .265, six homers, 18 RBIs in Erie (brought over in the Joakim Soria trade)
The AFL begins play on Tuesday, November 13, which is nine days after the scheduled day for the 7th game of the World Series, with the Scorpions facing the Salt River Rafters.
