Rajai Davis pushed home three of the Detroit Tigers’ four runs with the assistance of two homers as the Tigers captured the first of a three-game series with the Tampa Bay Rays on Labor Day.
Pitching Matchup
Matt Boyd (1-5, 8.36) was rocked in his last outing for the Detroit Tigers, lasting just one inning, allowing six runs on seven hits on Thursday against the Kansas City Royals. Since his first strong start for the Tigers back on August 5, he’s gone 0-3 with a 6.35 ERA in six games (five starts).
Erasmo Ramirez (6-7, 3.84) has experienced a nice turnaround this season after starting off with an ERA north of 10 after seven starts, although he hasn’t be especially sharp recently, allowing 11 run over his last three starts, including allowing four runs on six hits in four innings of a no-decision in a 7-6 loss to the Baltimore Orioles.
