Detroit Tigers return to action on Tuesday against the Kansas City Royals. Here’s everything you need to watch the division rivalry game between the two teams.

Detroit Tigers baseball is back! After a hard-fought series against the Houston Astros, the Tigers will now try their luck at beating the Kansas City Royals.

The Tigers claimed just one of the three games in Houston, but both losses were by one run, and the team came away a number of positives. Detroit fought back in each game, refusing to roll over and lose. In fact, nearly all of the team’s run production in Houston came when they were trailing in the game.

Additionally, the bullpen showed well. The Detroit relievers combined to hold the Astros to a grand total of zero runs.

In terms of a starting lineup, it is possible that we’ll see the same general group that started the finally in Houston. The prediction here is that the lineup goes as follows:

Ian Kinsler

, 2B

More from Motor City Bengals

  • Justin Upton, LF
  • Miguel Cabrera, 1B
  • Victor Martinez, DH
  • J.D. Martinez, RF
  • Nick Castellanos, 3B
  • Jarrod Saltalamacchia, C
  • Tyler Collins, CF
  • Jose Iglesias, SS
  • The only difference between this predicted starting nine and the players who started in Houston is Collins for Anthony Gose in center field. Gose is hitting .167 with nine strikeouts and a .426 OPS since the opening series in Miami, so it wouldn’t be a shock to see Collins get a start.

Shane Greene will make his second start of the season for the Tigers. The former Yankee had a rough first inning in Pittsburgh, but settled down to turn in an impressive outing. He’ll look to continue his run of good form against Yordano Ventura.

Ventura is 4-0 in his career against the Detroit Tigers, but Ian Kinsler, Victor Martinez and J.D. Martinez have faced him 15 times each. All three sport batting averages north of .300 against the Kansas City starter. What’s more, Ventura also has already accumulated nine walks in just 12 innings this season. Detroit could do some serious damage here.
