Detroit Tigers players will go for a third consecutive win on Friday when the team takes on the Minnesota Twins for the first time in 2016. Michael Fulmer will start for Detroit.

Detroit Tigers fans are no doubt excited about the Major League debut of top prospect Michael Fulmer. The starting pitcher, who was acquired in the Yoenis Cespedes trade at last season’s trade deadline, will make his first appearance for the Tigers. He’ll be opposed by Minnesota starter Phil Hughes.

Fulmer’s electrifying pitching arsenal will be on full display against the Twins. The starter possesses a blazing fastball and some nasty off-speed offerings. If all goes well, he could develop into a frontline starter. He could provide the spark that the Detroit rotation needs.

In addition to seeing Fulmer start, manager Brad Ausmus will likely trot out a similar lineup to the one that overpowered Oakland. That lineup featured J.D. Martinez hitting second and Justin Upton hitting fifth. In two games hitting second, Martinez went 3-for-6 with a double, a home run, three walks and four RBI. He only struck out once.

Upton only went 1-for-9 in the two games, but he did collect a two-out RBI single in the series finale. He was also unfortunate on a couple of outs. The outfielder hit the ball hard a number of times, however he happened to hit it right at a fielder on multiple occasions.
