Detroit Tigers players will look to start another winning streak as the team matches up with the Cleveland Indians. Anibal Sanchez will oppose Corey Kluber.

Detroit Tigers fans probably aren’t over the moon about Justin Verlander’s start yesterday. The ace was hit hard, allowing eight hits, seven runs, three walks and a home run in five innings. He only struck out two and saw his ERA balloon to 6.49.

On the bright side, Buck Farmer and Blaine Hardy combined to throw three scoreless innings, but Verlander clearly had a start to forget.

Detroit will look to rebound against Cleveland’s own ace, Corey Kluber. While the former Cy Young winner isn’t an easy matchup, the Tigers have the personnel to best the right-hander.

Miguel Cabrera is hitting a staggering .526 (!) in 38 career at-bats versus Kluber. The first baseman also has a pair of doubles, two walks, five home runs and 10 RBI when facing the 30-year-old.

In addition to Cabrera, Victor Martinez and J.D. Martinez also have posted favorable numbers against the Cleveland starter. The man known as “V-Mart” is a .321 hitter in 28 at-bats versus Kluber. That includes three walks, three home runs and five RBI. J.D. owns a .353 clip in 17 at-bats, with a double, a home run and two RBI coming off the veteran pitcher.

There’s also the fact that Kluber is only 3-6 with a 4.37 ERA in 82.1 innings against the Tigers. What’s more, he also has allowed more earned runs and home runs against Detroit than any other opponent.

The Tigers could be scoring some runs on Wednesday.

Here’s how the lineup will look, per the Tigers’ official Twitter account.

  1. Ian Kinsler, 2B
  2. J.D. Martinez, RF
  3. Miguel Cabrera, 1B
  4. Victor Martinez, DH

  6. Nick Castellanos, 3B
  7. James McCann, C
