Detroit Tigers players will look to bounce back following a 15-inning defeat against Seattle. Justin Verlander will take the hill for Detroit in the finale of a three-game series in the Pacific Northwest.

Detroit Tigers batters will have a tough test on Wednesday, as the team looks to start another winning streak. The Tigers offense will go up against none other than Felix Hernandez when Detroit wraps up a road series in Seattle.

The former Cy Young winner and six-time All Star owns a 3.13 career ERA and a miniscule 3.25 FIP. However, the Tigers could find some success against Seattle’s ace.

Miguel Cabrera (.423) and Victor Martinez (.333) both own stellar batting averages against the 30-year-old, while Mike Aviles is hitting .333 in 20 career at-bats versus Hernandez.

Additionally, Hernandez hasn’t exactly pitched like an ace at times this season. The pitcher’s ERA sits at 3.55, while his FIP of 4.61 is by far the worst of his career. Should they both hold through the rest of the season, the right-hander’s walk and strikeout per nine inning totals would also represent career worsts.

Here’s a look at the Tigers lineup that will face Hernandez, per a tweet from the Detroit News’ Chris McCosky.

More from Detroit Tigers News

Opposing Hernandez and the Mariners will be Detroit’s resident ace, Justin Verlander. The “#MustSeeJV” hashtag has been applicable since the start of July. In 48.2 innings, Verlander has pitched to a 1.85 ERA while holding batters to a .172 batting average. He’s also racked up 57 strikeouts over the same span.
